M. Alejandra torres-ruiz

M. Alejandra Torres Ruiz is an immigrant woman born in Michoacán, México. Her mission in life is to use therapeutic practices to deconstruct systems of oppression while integrating art, healing, and love in all her work.
After moving to the US during high school, she discovered her calling for social justice. In 2014 she graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s in Science of Social Work, and in 2018 she obtained her Masters in Science of Social Work at the Kent School at U of L.
Subsequently, Alejandra worked as a psychotherapist for a community mental health agency and with 9 years of professional experience working with underserved populations including immigrants, refugees, women, and children, in 2023 she opened her private practice: Casa Galenia.
Alejandra’s spirituality, belief in magical realism, and holistic healing methodologies enriches the care she provides to the whole person on their road to healing and empowerment. Alejandra incorporates culturally sensitive approaches in her daily work and celebrates the diversity of all people. She believes in people’s self-determination and uses a client-centered approach to help people take charge of their lives.
Therapeutic services include bio-psycho-social assessments, clinical diagnoses and treatment utilizing trauma focused approaches such as EMDR, TF/CBT, and DBT. Alejandra’s work philosophy is centered in multidisciplinary collaboration.
Alejandra focuses on serving primarily Spanish-Speaking, QTBIPOC, Youth, Immigrants and Refugees.
